Notice which meetings are really status requests

Some meetings create decisions, solve problems or build shared understanding. Others mainly exist because people cannot see what is happening between updates.

If the same questions appear each week, the team may need a clearer shared view rather than another conversation about progress.

  • Name the person responsible

Show the information that changes action

A useful status view does not need to display everything. It should show the current stage, the person responsible, the next due action and any item that needs help.

  • What is waiting or blocked.
  • Who owns the next action.
  • What deadline or commitment needs attention.

Keep conversation for decisions

Visible status should support better meetings, not remove useful discussion. Use meeting time for exceptions, trade-offs and decisions that need people together.
